The Blood of Five Rivers

Kaka, born and raised in a small, rural farming village in the Indian province of Punjab, seizes a unique opportunity to leave India, and to seek his fortunes abroad. He is soon catapulted into a journey in which he becomes an unwitting witness to some of the most significant historical events in the latter half of the 20th century. Kaka’s second-born and second-generation son, Nanak, charts his father’s trajectory through the Middle East, Europe, and finally to North America where he ultimately settles in the place of Nanak’s birth—Canada. An intergenerational tale of fathers and sons, migration and intergration, and the lasting impacts of legacy.
